Emergencies

  Emergency Plan: SIBC is a participant in the Shetland Emergency Plan and SIBC will carry messages as and when required by the Shetland Emergency Planning Forum during a declared local emergency.

SIBC maintains an emergency/backup transmitter and antenna system at its Market Street studios.

Roads: SIBC will carry road safety advice messages that are issued at the discretion of the authorities.

School closures: SIBC will carry messages as and when required by the Education Service when it has been decided that all schools and Train Shetland are to be closed, and as required by NAFC Marine Centre and Shetland College.

 Internal and external air and sea services: The operators prefer direct contact with passengers and other customers to relay what can be rapidly changing information.
