  • The Shetland Islands Council is holding a drop-in session in Mareel to give people the chance to find out more about the redevelopment project at the Belleview site of the building extensions of the former Anderson High School in Lerwick.

  • The fields of Bellevue were bought by the Anderson Educational Institute in the 1930s, to add to the facilities of the school and to provide outdoor recreation. The lower side of the playing fields at Bellview were built-on in the 1960s, 1970s and 1990s for the school extensions that are now being demolished.

  • BP, which has assets around Shetland, for decades was the operator of the Sullom Voe terminal and for years had a shuttle tanker based at the terminal, has reported a first quarter profit of $2.3 billion.

  • The assets west of Shetland are the Clair Ridge platform, the Clair platform and the Glen Lyon floating production storage and offloading vessel serving the Foinaven, Schiehallion and Loyal fields.

  • Unite has confirmed that its Worley Services members are the latest oil and gas workers to go on 24 hour strike action to demand a better deal on jobs, pay and conditions at the Sullom Voe Terminal.

  • The upcoming general election SNP candidate for Orkney and Shetland, Robert Leslie, has welcomed, what he called, the unifying pledge of the new SNP leader John Swinney.

  • Several offshore vessels, including Technip’s 156 metre diving support vessel Deep Explorer, which sailed from Lerwick harbour, have now started work in the Rosebank field, 85 nautical miles west-north-west of Unst. Technip, which had been appointed contractor for the first phase of development of Rosebank by Norwegian state energy company Equinor, decided that Lerwick Harbour was to be its main marine support hub.
